Rising British Artist Tori Beaumont Named September “Best
Vocalist Of The Month”
By Dale Kawashima
Tori Beaumont, a promising pop/AC artist who lives near
London, England, has won the September SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The
Month” Competition.
Tori Beaumont
Beaumont was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, to English and
American parents. When she was four, she moved to England and has lived there
since, although she hopes her music career will take her back to the U.S.
Beaumont grew up surrounded by musicians and music: her father is Director of
Music and Choir Master at an English cathedral, her mother plays multiple
instruments and is a music teacher, and her brother Jesse is a concert pianist.
She has been inspired by top vocalists/artists such as Celine Dion, Faith Hill
and LeAnn Rimes.
In her youth, Beaumont sang in the cathedral choir, and she
also began playing several instruments, including piano, violin, oboe and
drums. She performed in public regularly, and she entered and fared well in
local talent contests and music festivals. When she was 16, Beaumont wrote a
song for a national schools competition, and as one of the winners, she
recorded her song at London’s Air Studios and performed in front of 3,000
people at the Millennium Dome. And for college, she attended Paul McCartney’s
Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and subsequently graduated with a B.A.
Degree in Music.
Beaumont is ready to promote her music aggressively, and take her artist career
to the next level. “With my new album, I have decided to take it straight to
the ‘people’ through the online community. So much of what the public hears
gets dictated by industry trends; the ability now to gain an audience,
independently, before releasing an album and without major investment, is so
exciting. Within five weeks of joining MySpace I’d had 25,000 song plays and
within a week of joining Sonicbids, I found myself at #1 on their top-viewed
chart.” So it appears that Beaumont is now well positioned to make a strong impact as a new artist.
In addition, here are four, talented vocalists/artists who complete our Top Five Vocalists honorees list for this month's competition, with their credits, plus their e-mail and website links. You can listen to their songs by double-clicking the music players below.
