Publications List to Get Publicity
Here is an extensive list of regional, music/entertainment publications throughout the U.S. to publicize yourself or your band. Many artists who get signed by major labels have generated strong local press and publicity. Labels and industry pros can read about your local success even before your CD or demo has been shopped. In fact, many A&R execs read regional publications, and will contact you if they read an impressive article. Also, touring bands can use this list to set up publicity before they reach each city.
Strong local press provides valuable credibility for your act. It's important to the A&R exec that there is clear interest in your band from objective, outside sources (not just friends and family). If a band has terrific press clippings to show a label when they begin shopping, it immediately makes a powerful impression.
